  • Work with the board and other key stakeholders to define the responsibilities of the role and key attributes of the ideal candidate. Evaluate organizational culture and hiring team personalities to better understand what candidate will be most successful in the role.
  • Develop the position specification.
  • Provide competitive analysis of compensation and establish compensation range for position.
  • Develop a search strategy to identify potential candidates, a list of target organizations and positions, and provide an analysis of potential advertising vehicles for the position.
  • Post and advertise position publicly; search K12’s database for potential candidates.
  • Conduct aggressive outreach into the marketplace, approaching both top sources and potential candidates.
  • Conduct candidate screening process, including resume review, telephone interview, and face-to-face meeting, either in person or by videoconference.
  • Present a finalist slate of candidates to the search committee.
  • Schedule candidate interviews with search committee.
  • Facilitate a full day of in-person candidate interviews with search committee.
  • Maintain constant dialogue with active candidates, keeping committee members apprised of any issues that may surface with candidates.
  • Conduct thorough references of finalist candidate, including both references provided by the candidate as well as informal firm contacts from within the sector.
  • Provide advice on offer and offer negotiation.
  • Verify college degrees and employment.
